OUTDOOR EXHIBITION “NOTHING PERSONAL” BY NIKITA TERYOSHIN
Light Leaks Festival 2024
Désolé, ce texte n'existe pas en français.
Following the huge success of last year first edition, the Light Leaks Festival
outdoor exhibition will be presented in the courtyard of the Rotondes cultural
center. This open-air exhibition showcases street and documentary photos on a
large scale, providing a unique and immersive experience for festival attendees.
This year the outdoor exhibition will exclusively showcase the captivating work
of photographer Nikita Teryoshin, from his collection 'Nothing Personal - the
back office of war', offering attendees a unique perspective on contemporary
themes.
“Every day on the news we are shown images of war and destruction. This
coincides with global expenditure on arms increasing year after year. However,
we are rarely afforded a glimpse behind the curtains of the global arms
business. Photographer Nikita Teryoshin travelled to 16 arms fairs between 2016
and 2023 to investigate what happens before wars take place. His aim was to take
photographs at exclusive so-called defense expositions— which are closed to the
public—on every continent to highlight the global nature of the industry.”

BNNY
There are one million ways to approach love, one million ways to experience
love, one million ways in which love shapes both the course of our lives and how
we choose to navigate that course. On her second album, Bnny’s Jessica Viscius
looks love square in its many eyes and describes, with self-awareness and humor,
not only what she sees, but what it makes her feel. Deep romantic love, breathy
lust, generous self-love—and their opposites, self-loathing, resentment,
disappointment—all make appearances on One Million Love Songs, Bnny’s revelatory
second album.
FOR FANS OF:
Snail Mail, Packs, Francis of Delirium
FIRST MOTE
After pre-pubescent jam sessions in a garage, digging into the heavy riffs and
rhythms of Soul Sacrifice, TNT and Little Wing, Jamie Reinert and Christophe
Demart have finally gotten round to getting some stuff on tape. It’s taken
around 20 years, but their instrumental communion is as rough as ever. Electric
baritone guitar and drums are at the centre of things since neither of them have
the courage to sing.

MARKER STARLING
Toronto troubadour Chris A. Cummings (Marker Starling, formerly Mantler) has
been playing Melancholy Party Jams since 1999. A solo performer for many years,
his preferred weapons were a Wurltizer electric piano and an early
pre-programmed drum machine. More recently he has been supported by a
Toronto-based band consisting of Jay Anderson (drums), Matt McLaren (bass) and
Andy Scott (guitar and keyboards). In the UK and Europe he has played
extensively with Euan Rodger (drums), Joe Carvell (bass) and Andy Whitehead
(guitar).
After a long association with Germany’s Tomlab label, who released the second,
third and fourth Mantler records (SADISFACTION, LANDAU and MONODY), Cummings
began working with UK-based Tin Angel Records in 2010. With Tin Angel, Marker
Starling has released 4 albums since 2015 - the acclaimed ROSY MAZE (praised by
Matthew Horton in the NME for its “timeless quality”), solo all-covers record
I’M WILLING (2016), the self-retrospective ANCHORS AND AMPERSANDS (2017), and an
all-originals solo record TRUST AN AMATEUR (2018). Cummings’ ninth record HIGH
JANUARY, recorded in the UK and produced by Sean O’Hagan (The High Llamas,
Stereolab) was released in April 2020.

ELIZA NIEMI
Connection and collaboration lives in the intimacy of her albums, starting with
2019’s Vinegar,an understated set of songs for cello, keyboard and voice that
wander with a comforting grace.2020’s Glass furthered Eliza’s reputation for
writing songs that are boundless and experimentalwithout ever being alienating.
There’s an open, inviting quality throughout the record, apparentfrom the
close-miked instruments, to her softly sung and affable lyrics that unfold like
aconversation with a good friend.
Her latest album, Staying Mellow Blows, furthers these ideas and aesthetics to a
staggeringdegree, retaining the candor, humor and emotional humility she’s known
for, while letting thevast number of supporting musicians shape each song with
their own emotionally resonantperformances. The result feels whimsical and
inspired, and is the sound of an artist flourishing.
